Summary:
Our team, BHKPT Engineering, completed an intersection improvement design to the Vine Rd. and Hollywood Rd. intersection located in Wasilla. Alternatives were analyzed and the selected alternative was taken to a 35% design. We chose a single lane roundabout that contains entry/exit geometry, one circulatory roadway, a truck apron, an island, and pedestrian crosswalks and signage. This roundabout will reduce the amount and severity of crashes in the intersection, increase pedestrian safety, and accommodate for future traffic growth.
