{"id":2585,"date":"2019-12-19T23:03:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-19T23:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coeng.uaa.alaska.edu\/innovation\/?p=2585"},"modified":"2025-01-17T22:50:27","modified_gmt":"2025-01-17T22:50:27","slug":"hatcher-alpine-xperience-skeetawk-ski-area-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coeng.uaa.alaska.edu\/innovation\/?p=2585","title":{"rendered":"Hatcher Alpine Xperience- Skeetawk Ski Area Project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Student Members:<\/strong> Ashley Doman, Ashley Andrews, Dustin Campbell-Hutchinson, Claire Ellis, Renee Newman<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Faculty Advisors:<\/strong> Dr. Joey Yang, Dr. Matthew Calhoun<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Project Mentor:<\/strong> Michael Erdman, PE<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Description:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hatcher Alpine Xperience (HAX) is a non-profit organization formed in 2016 to bring Alpine Skiing to Hatcher Pass.&nbsp; Since the formation, HAX has built a snowcat building, cleared runs, and paid for the lift engineering.&nbsp; The ski area will be named Skeetawk, and more information is online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skeetawk.com\">www.skeetawk.com<\/a>.&nbsp; It is anticipated that the first phase lift will be installed in the summer of 2019.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is broken into two components, the water and wastewater portion, and the road design.&nbsp; The purpose of the water and wastewater portion of this project is to design and permit an on-site water\/wastewater system to provide the proposed lodge with domestic potable water and wastewater disposal systems in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. The lodge will include a 150 seat bar\/restaurant to serve up to 675 skiers per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the road design portion of this project is to design a road to access the top of the high speed quad lift.
