In fact, there are too many great places to list.&nbsp; A few fan favorites are listed below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/snowcitycafe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Snow City Caf\u00e9<\/a> (1034 W 4th Ave) \u2013 One of the best breakfasts in town, best hash browns (possibly) in the world.&nbsp; Opens at 7:30 am, and even on a weekday, there might be a wait.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.49statebrewing.com\/anchorage\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.49statebrewing.com\/anchorage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">49<sup>th<\/sup> State Brewing Company<\/a> (17 W 3rd Ave) \u2013 A downtown spot with a big menu including venison and yak burgers, wood-fired pizzas, and local microbrews.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/middlewaycafe.com\/\">Middle Way Caf\u00e9 <\/a>(1200 W Northern Lights Blvd) \u2013 Located in Spenard, great spot for soups, salads, sandwiches, and breakfasts.&nbsp; Local ingredients, great coffee, fresh pastries.&nbsp; The pizza place next door (Hearth) is owned by the same people and does wood-fired pizzas for dinner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/spenardroadhouse.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Spenard Roadhouse<\/a> (1049 W Northern Lights Blvd) \u2013 Located in Spenard, think comfort food and cocktail bar.\u00a0 Great menu for dietary concerns, with lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/beartoothgrill.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Beartooth Grill<\/a> (1230 W 27th Ave) \u2013 Attached to the Bear Tooth Theatrepub, the grill features mainly Mexican fusion cuisine with cocktail bar and local microbrews.\u00a0 The fish tacos are excellent.\u00a0 Great menu for dietary concerns, such as vegetarian or gluten-free.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/moosestooth.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Moose\u2019s Tooth Pub &amp; Pizzeria<\/a> (3300 Old Seward Hwy) \u2013 The best local pizzas, numerous beers brewed on site, including homemade root beer and cream soda.\u00a0 This place is everyone\u2019s favorite, and I\u2019ve never waited less than 20 minutes for a table even at off-peak hours.\u00a0 You often wait longer.\u00a0 Fair warning.\u00a0 Pro tip: the Bear Tooth Teatrepub has the exact same pizza with almost no wait.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/southak.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">South Restaurant and Coffeehouse<\/a> (11124 Old Seward Hwy) \u2013 Located in south Anchorage.\u00a0 Tapas, small plates, and larger entrees, plus a cocktail bar.\u00a0 Very good food.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/kaladi.com\/locations\/tudor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kaladi Brother\u2019s Coffee<\/a> \u2013 The local coffee, as ubiquitous in Anchorage as Starbuck\u2019s is elsewhere.\u00a0 Numerous locations all over town.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/simonandseaforts.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Simon &amp; Seaforts Saloon &amp; Grill<\/a> (420 L Street) \u2013 Located downtown.\u00a0 A local favorite with great atmosphere and views of the inlet.\u00a0 A favorite place for sunset.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/fireislandbread.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop<\/a> (multiple locations including downtown) \u2013 A local favorite.\u00a0 Crusty, traditional breads, sweet and savory croissants and scones, hearty muffins, fresh baked cookies, frosted cakes, tarts, multi-grain granola, a variety of daily sandwiches, and holiday specialties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Activities &amp; Places of Interest: <\/strong>Anchorage has a variety of outdoor, cultural and performing arts activities to offer with something for everyone.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/beartooththeatre.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Beartooth Theatrepub<\/a> (1230 W 27th Ave) \u2013 cheap tickets on indie and second-run movies, and a full-service restaurant right in the theater.\u00a0 Pizza and Mexican fusion cuisine, and they bring it to you while you watch the movie.\u00a0 Check out their website for movie listings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/anchoragecoastaltrail.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tony Knowles Coastal Trail <\/a>\u2013 Follows Cook Inlet along the edge of downtown, great for a scenic walk or run.\u00a0 Bike rentals available in the summer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.anchoragemuseum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Anchorage Museum<\/a> (625 C St) \u2013 Just what it sounds like, located right downtown.\u00a0 There is an interactive children\u2019s museum, permanent displays of Alaska and Alaska Native art, and traveling exhibits.\u00a0 The restaurant attached to the museum, Muse, it pretty good as well.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.adfg.alaska.gov\/index.cfm?adfg=fishingSportStockingHatcheryInfo.williamjackhernandez\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">William Jack Hernandez Sport Fish Hatchery<\/a> (N Reeve Blvd) \u2013 Because the fish need to be kept in tightly controlled environments, there is some cool mechanical and electrical engineering that went into this facility, and we do tours with students sometimes.\u00a0 It\u2019s also a 1% for art facility, so there is some beautiful fish-based art by local artists.\u00a0 There is a walk-through space that\u2019s open to the public between 8 am and 4 pm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alaskawildlife.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center<\/a> \u2013 This one is a bit of a drive, located in Portage Valley, which is about 40 minutes south of town, but worth it if you want to see some amazing wildlife.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alaskazoo.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.alaskazoo.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alaska Zoo<\/a> &#8211; The only zoo under the Midnight Sun is a non-profit focused on Arctic, sub-Arctic and like climate species.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alaskanative.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alaska Native Heritage Center<\/a> &#8211; The Alaska Native Heritage Center (ANHC) is a living cultural center that promotes active observance of Alaska Native culture and traditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alaskabg.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Anchorage Botanical Garden<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.anchorage.net\/outdoors\/trails-and-local-parks\/earthquake-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Earthquake Park<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alaska.org\/detail\/kincaid-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kincaid Park<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alaskapac.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alaska Center for Performing Arts<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shopping<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Alaska Fur Exchange (4417 Old Seward Hwy) \u2013 traditional crafts and other gifts made by Alaska artists.&nbsp; Many of the same craftspeople whose soapstone carvings are sold downtown are featured, but without the downtown markup.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue, downtown \u2013 The main drag for all the delightfully kitschy souvenirs you could desire!&nbsp;
