The AI-UNITE: Advancing Inclusivity, Unity, Networking, Innovation, Technology, and Education for Enhanced AI Innovation Capacity in Alaska, also funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF Award #2435188), aims to promote inclusivity and build AI literacy across the community, regardless of individuals’ educational background. Under AI-UNITE, we provide:
AI Education and Training: Courses and programs tailored to a wide range of learners — from K-12 students to industry professionals and Alaska elders — to promote AI literacy and develop skills needed to contribute to AI development, use AI technology in their work, or integrate AI into their daily lives.
Mentorship and Internship Opportunities: Support for students to participate in AI-related projects with industry mentors, including funding for internships to provide practical experience, while offering industry access to emerging AI talent and fresh perspectives.
Ethical and Responsible AI Initiatives: Programs focusing on promoting an understanding of responsible AI use, ethics, and societal impacts, including workshops and discussions on ethical AI practices to ensure equitable and thoughtful AI integration across the community.
